About the exhibition

“Tell me, how was your day? Fragments of a trapped soul” (2020-2021) is a daily series of small format photos (instax mini fujifilm) which documents and portrays my relationship with my home during the isolation days. That relationship was intense since the office, sleeping area and kitchen are all inside the same place. It is a very mysterious approach that depicts the progressive dissolution of boundaries between the house’s divisions and between what meant to remain private or public.

My body freedom was trapped inside less than 30 m2 which led to repercussions in my psychological and physical well-being.

On every photo is registered the day, month and year that it was taken followed by a word or a sentence which describes the scene or object. Sometimes in a direct way, other times subliminal and more like a mirror of my mental state with a touch of irony.

Every picture lays inside a small card box. The box symbolizes the house’s area limitation. The claustrophobic feeling of being inside a “shoe box”

„Erzähl mir, wie war dein Tag? Fragmente einer gefangenen Seele“ ist eine tägliche Serie von kleinformatigen Instax Mini Fujifilm Fotos, die meine Beziehung zu meinem Zuhause in den Tagen der Isolation dokumentieren und porträtieren. Diese Beziehung war intensiv, da sich das Büro, der Schlafbereich und die Küche alle am gleichen Ort befinden.

Die Freiheit meines Körpers war, über mehr als zwei Monate hinweg, gefangen in weniger als 30m2, was zu Auswirkungen auf mein psychisches und physisches Wohlbefinden geführt hat.

Auf jedem Foto ist der Tag und das Monat registriert, an dem es aufgenommen wurde, gefolgt von einem Wort oder Satz, die die Szene oder das Objekt beschreiben.  Manchmal auf eine direkte Art, andere Male subliminal und mehr wie ein Spiegel meines mentalen Zustands, mit einem Hauch von Ironie.

Jedes Bild liegt in einer kleinen Kartenschachtel, die die Begrenzung des häuslichen Raums symbolisiert – das klaustrophobische Gefühl, in einer „Schuhschachtel“ zu sein.

About the artist

Ana Loureiro is a visual artist living and working in Vienna.
She graduated in Fine Arts – Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto University and attended the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna during her last graduation semester in the figurative paiting class.

Currently, her artistic practice focuses in the relationship between architecture/space and its inner memories, taking in consideration her personal experience and through a multidisciplinary approach.

Her projects have been already presented in several countries: Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Belgium, England and Portugal.

Ana Loureiro ist eine visuelle Künstlerin, die seit 2013 in Wien lebt und arbeitet.
Sie hat Fine Arts – Painting an der Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto University (2009- 2013) abgeschlossen und besuchte in ihrem letzten Abschlusssemester die Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien (2013) in der Klasse Figurative Malerei.

Zur Zeit fokussiert sich ihre künstlerische Tätigkeit auf die Beziehung zwischen Architektur/Raum und deren innere Erinnerungen, bezugnehmend auf ihre persönliche Erfahrung und durch einen multidisziplinären Zugang.

Ihre Projekte wurden bereits in einigen Ländern gezeigt: Österreich, Deutschland, Schweiz, Kroatien, Belgien, England und Portugal.
