With her intervention at Mz*Baltazar Laboratory, Guadalupe visits and explores a personal landscape discovered by herself within her own somatic memory. Relevant visual elements, actions and movements take form in this exhibition, in which she interconnects her own imaginary with actual archaeological finds located in the caves of northern Mexico, the place she considers to be the earliest connection to her ancestors. The linear patterns on human bodies (re)presented in the cave paintings, as well as the superposition of paintings over lapses of hundreds of years, are some of the major references that find reflection in this performative landscape.
Like in some of the caves referred to, the visitor can stand at the edge and observe the surrounding landscape: a neighbourhood of welfare buildings similar to the one in which Guadalupe grew up in Mexico. By connecting these seemingly opposing landscapes, the magical interior of the art space and the arid reality outside, the artist points exactly to the multiplicity of realities that are able to intersect through a single ancestral family line.
